KNOWLEDGE AND CURRICULUM
Product Code : 978-93-86092-11-3
Brand Name : KSK PUBLISHERS&DISTR
Product Description
This book provides an effective encounter between procedural
and propositional knowledge or among the “what to
do,” “how to do it” and “why to do it.” The “it” in question,
of course, is teaching technology studies. Through the last
two decades of the twentieth century, the state of the art
changed so drastically as to render obsolete traditional “how,
what and why” books of teaching this subject. Theory and
practice in technology studies have changed in unprecedented
ways during the last twenty years. In design, technology, and
information technology education, the conceptual changes in
curriculum and instruction during this time are remarkable.
At least conceptually, all the ingredients for a transformation
from industrial (arts) education to (design and) technology
education were in place. The same ingredients were put into
place to transform computer science in the schools to information
technology. There continues to be a disjuncture between
theory and practice, but the distance decreases each
year. During the 1980s and 1990s, research into the cultural
aspects of technology also went through a transformation in
theory and method.
